About This Course
PGDCA Full Form is Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Application. PGDCA is a 1 year postgraduate course that focuses on advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of Computer Science and computer applications in the field of Information Technologies. Students will learn about operating systems, Software engineering, database management systems, and web programming from PGDCA syllabus.
PGDCA Admissions across top PGDCA Colleges such as Madras Christian College, NIMS University, etc are usually done on the basis of merit. However, certain Colleges like ISI Kolkata, Jamia Millia Islamia etc grant admission on the basis of entrance exams. The basic eligibility criteria for admission to the PGDCA course is a minimum of 40% marks or an equivalent CGPA from a recognized University.

PGDCA extensively deals with the theoretical and practical aspects of Computer software and its applications. PGDCA courses focus on imparting knowledge to its students on various subjects like Database Management Systems, Operating Systems and Web Programming.

Admission Process for PGDCA
Admissions to PGDCA courses are done on the basis of merit for the majority of the colleges. Students are judged on the basis of the marks that they have scored in their graduation.
However, colleges like Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata, Jamia Millia Islamia New Delhi etc enroll students for admission to PGDCA courses on the basis of entrance exams conducted by them. Students who qualify the entrance exams are invited for an interview round.
Apart from this colleges like IGNOU, Delhi University offers admission to PGDCA courses on the basis of merit.
PGDCA Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for admission to PGDCA courses vary from college to college. While some universities like Delhi University, Dibrugarh University expect students to have a minimum of 40% aggregate marks in their Undergraduate courses, colleges like IK Gujral Punjab Technical University do not have any cutoff marks for students in the qualifying exams.
In certain cases, Institutes specify an age limit for admission to PGDCA courses. Vallabh Government College has made it mandatory for students not more than 26 years (28 years for girls) of age to be eligible to apply for admission to PGDCA courses.

Entrance Exam Based Admission

For merit based PGDCA admissions, students are judged on the basis of the marks of their Undergraduate courses such as BSc, BA, BCom, BCA, BTech etc. Some colleges and Institutes also call students for a round of PI or Personal Interview post screening students on the basis of their marks.
PGDCA Distance Education
Apart from the regular PGDCA courses, students can also pursue PGDCA Distance Education. Distance Education is majorly pursued by students who find it difficult to study in a regular course due to financial and time constraints. The eligibility criteria for pursuing PGDCA Distance Education is that students must clear their Undergraduate courses from a recognized University with minimum of 50% aggregate marks or equivalent CGPA.
